Latest Updates from Our Project:

23 - Special add-on Wooden stands premium quality
about 2 years ago – Thu, Apr 21, 2022 at 12:35:43 PM

Hello, children of the Broodr,

we listened to your voice, we had this as a stretch goal but we don't think we will reach that amount.

So we decided to offer it to you as an add-on at the lowest possible price.

With these supports, you will not have any problems with possible friction problems with the cards.

This will still remain as a stretch goal, if we reach 180,000€ you will get it for free inside the core box.

You can already add this add-on to your order, through the "manage your pledge" button. You will have access to the list of add-ons.

We are jumping through hoops to bring you the best game possible with the resources we have available, I hope these acts are appreciated :)

22 - Last hours + New Unlocks
about 2 years ago – Thu, Apr 21, 2022 at 11:08:26 AM

Hello, children of the Broodr,

We've reached the final stages!

Today we're talking about:

  • How the campaign is going
  • New Unlocks
  • Things to remember

We have unlocked 26 stretch goals and we have surpassed 1000 backers! Yay!

Many of you however are stuck on the €1 pledge, let us know how we can help you get in with a higher pledge, we will try to do what we can to get you on board.

Today's conquest

The tokens available at the moment are 1mm thick: by unlocking this stretch goal their quality will be increased and you will have stronger and thicker tokens.

The game boards also needed an improvement: they will no longer be 1mm, but 1.5mm, which will make them stronger and less subject to the passage of time.

Thanks to this stretch goal, the inside of the box will contain a plastic tray insert and keep all Feralis components safe.

Conquests on the way

Things to remember

There are only 20 hours until the end of the campaign. We've already unlocked many stretch goals, but many more are still to be unlocked. Share the project as much as you can, with your help, we can do it!

21 - Lore Pills | Thoron, The Nemesis + Livestream replay + Last 48 Hours
about 2 years ago – Wed, Apr 20, 2022 at 12:58:31 AM

Hello, children of the Broodr,

it's the dawn of a new day (or sunset?) and time for updates:

  • How the campaign is going
  • Lore: Thoron, The Nemesis
  • Livestream replay
  • Last 48 Hours

We have unlocked 24 stretch goals and we are at 988 backers.

Lore: Thoron, The Nemesis

We talked about the four main Aesyr: Norad, Morgal, Malek, and Zagal. I showed you the map, which means you could walk around Morkh without getting lost. You’d still probably die, but at least you’d know where you were when it happened. But something, or someone, is missing.

Our expansions feature two additional Aesyr each. And let’s not forget Nosgroth, because he certainly hasn’t forgotten us. It's time to start introducing them...

Year 1305 since the Rise of the Unchained,

Island of Ura

"Filthy sharp teeth!"

He had tried to break the Rostus' defenses, really tried. Thoron had an army of Valkun at his service; stupid creatures, no doubt, but strong. Strong enough to have brought him many victories until now. Against the Rostus' defense their strength meant nothing, their worn hooves damn near worthless when they couldn’t even reach into the lairs of those who had camouflage on their side. Had he been wrong to make a pact with the Valkun?

But no, no... He couldn’t question his choices, not now. All that mattered was putting those ill-fated boars down for good. Their horns would rot and they would tremble before him, begging to be dominated. Once they’d begged enough, paid the price for his pains so far Thoron would finally allow them to serve him.

But first, he had to get help.

"Can you do this for me?"

"Not for you. For us."

Thoron would have wrinkled his nose if he had one.

"For us," he repeated.

He would deal with him later.

Who can guess who Thoron is talking to? I admit, it's hard, but maybe you'll find a clue in the next bit of lore.

Livestream replay

For those who missed the Livestream on Solo Mode here is the replay.

Last 48 Hours

That's it for this update! We've about 48 hours left to go. Hang in there and share the project as much as possible, I'm sure we'll be able to unlock many more stretch goals with your help!

20 - last 72h + Livestream
about 2 years ago – Mon, Apr 18, 2022 at 10:56:17 PM

Hello, children of the Broodr,

Today we'll talk about:

  • How the campaign is going
  • Last 72h
  • Livestream

We have already unlocked 23 stretch goals and are at 957 backers.

Last 72h

A Kickstarter campaign is only as strong as its backers. Your help could push this project to be the best it can be. You can make a difference. We greatly appreciate anything you do to let people know about this campaign, whether it's posting to your social media accounts, sending emails to your friends, or letting a co-worker know about us. Share the project, talk about it on BGG and use search it on Kicktraq. If we reach BGG's Hotlist or get into Kicktraq's top 10, the project will get a major funding boost and we'll be able to unlock all the stretch goals!

Livestream

Tomorrow, April 19 we will be doing a livestream on Solo mode on our Twitch account (like last time) at 5pm CEST / 10am CDT.  Hopefully VOD will be enabled this time 😅

19 - Q&A session answers
about 2 years ago – Mon, Apr 18, 2022 at 01:05:05 PM

Hello, children of the Broodr,

we are really close to the end of the campaign, a few days ago we asked for some feedback from you.

Some of which we have already responded to with swift action. See back of the cards here and playthrough for Solo Mode and 1vs1 here.

Let's move on to the less urgent but still interesting questions:

I want to know the difference between the factions. Why would I play one over the other.

  1. The Skreel work as a hive, and as such they have abilities that affect every component of your board. Their natural behavior brings them to play a lot with the graveyard, as well as sacrificing themselves to evocate better creatures. They are the breed with the lowest average incubation time and they work very well both alone and mixed with every other breed.
  2. The Gilmora take power from the shadow. While rare in other breeds, almost all Gilmora creatures have the shadow constitution type and have many abilities that work only on the shadow type. They are elusive and tend to avoid defenses, use them to directly attack your opponents! You can use them alone or mixed with the other shadow creatures from the other breeds to make them even more powerful.
  3. The Marall are ferocious warriors, they all have very good basic stats despite their low incubation time. Furthermore, they are Gilmora's sworn enemies and as such many Marall have the shadow compatibility and will deal full damage to all the opponent's shadow creatures.
  4. The Valkun live for the war and will never retreat from a fight. They are the breed with the highest statistics but also the highest average incubation time. It will take skill and experience to control them, but once you do no one will stop you.

I don’t think it’s anything which will be done as it’s not a game that requires models ofc. But I think a great crazy thing could be miniatures. Not expecting miniatures of all the minions but maybe just a miniature of the leaders could be a cool visual physical element. Don’t think it would be done as it’s not that kind of game but would be interesting.

The type of game does not require the use of miniatures and given the high cost of design and production we did not feel the need to increase the cost for something purely scenic.

Maybe more Aesyr, and the possibility to have only one "big" box with all the expansion.

The Aesyr determines an entire game strategy, they are extremely important cards and as such should be thoroughly tested as a whole. It would not be fair to insert new Aesyrs for the sake of it without them being carefully tested first. For the "big box" it was in the plan to have it in the stretch goals but the cost has to be borne by a large number of backers, we are not at this point. Who knows, it will be useful material for an future Kickstarter.

The tokens are super plain, especially the stat markers (+/-). You've said they are temporary, but it would be nice to get a better idea before the campaign ends.

We didn't have the time to design it during the campaign, it required all our effort and we decided to divert it to the solo mode, which surely arouses more interest. Anyway, don't worry, together with the remaining illustrations, this will be done too.

I don't think the Divine Skills should have the skill type on the back, and I think they would function better starting facedown. The game deals with lots of treachery and unknown information, so it seems strange that you give away your customized powerful effect information right from the start of the game by playing them face up. After the first time it's activated, you could have the cards stay face up.

In previous versions, it was just like that, but the game required too much cognitive effort resulting from the excessive unknown of information. You couldn't easily create a response to an enemy action and this increased the paralysis analysis.

The Defenders mechanism seems clunky. The inability for an avatar to sacrifice their creatures for protection through blocking attacks from an opponent is a standard ability in all combat games that I have played. There are exceptions where a creature has an ability to bypass other creatures or a subset of them (flying, shadow, elusive, etc.), and there is direct damage to an avatar, but the inability to block an opponent's attack seems counterintuitive against common genre conventions.

This is our uniqueness, every action must have a meaning, playing with time also means playing with calculated risk, this is Feralis' philosophy. However, there are advanced techniques (for example the Ambush) that allow you to defend yourself effectively even when you are exposed.

I can't see how using standees for the Incubator is going to work well for long term play. If you play your cards unsleeved, it's going to damage the cards over time. If you play sleeved, its going to be a pain places the cards in upside down because cards never go to the top of the sleeve, so it will be flimsy on that edge. You will either damage the sleeve as it bends, or spend a lot of time trying to get it to fit in.

The space in the stands is wide enough that you don't friction with the paper and risk breaking it. We are working to bring you in the stretch goals a more elegant solution.

How are you handling your translations? Speaking on the English, it isn't bad, but there are some issues here and there that others have pointed out.

We're working with native editors to bring you the best English possible, don't worry.

I was a member of your discord for about 3 days. Unfortunately without a translate bot, there is very little there unless you speak Italian. I understand that this is your native language, but it did make it pretty much impossible to interact, and I felt like there was a lot of information there that could have been useful. I tried copying and pasting into a translate app, but that got tedious quickly. I ended up leaving the server.

Now the main channel is in English and it's always monitored, the Discord server is becoming more and more international, come and have a look.

What is your plan for the future of the game in order to bring it from essentially a boxed deck construction game to something larger, or is this boxed game the way you see the game? If there is a plan, will releases take the form of the initial expansions here, or smaller booster packs, or something different?

This is just the beginning, Feralis has the ambition to become our flagship IP and we will continue to bring you new content to keep the game fresh and full of new dynamics. Always thinking of your fun first of course.

As I am a lore addicted, what about more lore? :D

Oh, good things are coming!

I know it's not part of that Kickstarter, but your world is really talking to me and I'd love if, in the future, you expand it with additional content like expansions, other games (board or video) or even books/novels. Lucky for me, dreaming is free x)

We are only at the beginning ;)

Am I right you can only mix two species of creature? If so, is that to minimise ridiculous combo potential? I'd more tempted to get the expansions if you were allowed to freely mix, like the colours of MTG. One of my favourite decks was tri-colour in MTG. Be interesting to know the reasoning behind it?

It's to minimize the risk of extremely powerful and uncontrollable combos. The game rules we have proposed are the ones we are sure to have tested. We are working on the possibility to extend this limit to more factions but until we are sure that it works we don't want to expose ourselves.

We hope these answers satisfy your thirst for knowledge, as always we are super available to answer any other questions you may have. You can do that here on the Kickstarter comments or join us on our Discord server here. See you tomorrow!
